Summary:

The increased volume and variety of the types and sources of data has led to increased complexity in data management. In addition to their internal, on-premises systems, many enterprises store at least some data in the cloud. Moreover, companies have the ability to capture data from a wider variety of sources such as mobile devices, sensors, and the web. Finally, as analytics plays an increasingly important in role in operations, companies are seeking to provide access to data across the enterprises, eliminating data silos to whatever degree possible. To better understand the current relationships among the different elements of the enterprise data management infrastructure, Unisphere Research, the research division of Information Today, Inc., surveyed professionals responsible for, and involved in, data management operations.
